CENSIS does not conduct research independently. We support private businesses and the public sector to innovate using sensing, imaging, communications and cloud technologies.
The programme aligns with CENSIS’s values of promoting and supporting diversity and inclusion in engineering and computing science.
Organisation profile
CENSIS is the centre of excellence for sensor and imaging systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
We help organisations of all sizes and types use these enabling technologies to innovate.
We are independent advisers, partnering with private industry and the public sector to fast-track the development of new products and services for global markets, and help companies adopt existing technologies to generate quality, efficiency, and performance gains.
We seek to create sustainable economic growth, while delivering against net zero targets and generating wider social impact. Our team comprises industry-served engineers alongside business generation and project management staff.
We support multiple end markets, able to realign priorities quickly to create and support opportunities with pace and purpose.
Our delivery of outcomes-focused technology innovation focuses on four interlinked areas:
Development of ideas and project formation with business: Using our in-house expertise and wider networks, we help businesses explore challenges in multiple end market.
Exploitation and commercialisation: CENSIS specialises in helping businesses addressing the technology ‘valley of death’, the gap in which neither universities nor the private sector prioritise investment.
Wider programme delivery: We have participated in several large-scale business-facing initiatives particularly to drive SME growth.
Ecosystem development: An outreach programme that includes informal ‘virtual coffees’ to technical workshops, social meetups, tailored industry engagement and an annual conference.
CENSIS is pleased to offer its support to DiveIn by signposting companies we work with to the DiveIn CDT programme where there maybe mutual benefit in doing so. Where possible, we may help move research outcomes towards commercial evaluation and exploitation. Our staff may be able to offer in-kind support by way of technology and market road mapping to help characterise current landscapes.
