Why do you want to join the DiveIn community?
I think I could make a real contribution - I have an excellent track record in mentoring and training PhD students which I really enjoy.
Personal profile:

My research group is focused on the design and exploitation of soft materials for a range of applications. To do this, we have a multidisciplinary outlook, combining synthesis, formulation and analysis using techniques such as small angle scattering and rheology. We collaborate widely with people across the world, for example in the US, Italy, Australia and Iceland and also attend experiments at beamlines in many countries. We have used our materials for applications including on-demand delivery of proteins to avoid the cold chain and for energy storage.

I have successfully supervised > 20 students, with many winning significant prizes for their work. These students now work in a range of areas including academia, industry, publishing and IP law. I love to supervise students and watch people grow during their PhD. I believe that I am a highly inclusive supervisor, committed to EDI and and do my best to ensure the development and growth of everyone in my group; I was named this year in Glasgow’s ‘People Make Research’ project as someone who contributes to our research culture in a way that enables others to thrive.”
