Mission Priority Areas
I am keen to lead a diverse and inclusive group of students and collaborate on dynamic and multi-disciplinary research projects.
As well as to liaise with industry, developing Postgraduate Taught programmes for Postgraduate Research students.
I am leading the Biomedical AI and Imaging Lab in School of Computing Science. Our focus is to develop novel, state-of-the-art computational methods to solve challenging problems in biomedical domain.
The core expertise of the group is the development of machine learning approaches to analyse medical images, neuro-physiological signals and human motion. While we harness the power of Artificial Intelligence, we strive to develop cutting-edge technologies that safeguard users’ privacy and promote public trust towards artificial intelligence. Our field is multi-disciplinary, and it builds on collaborations across computing science, engineering, medicine and neuroscience.
In our group, there are several exciting opportunities for a PhD. Recommended topics include but are not limited to human motion analysis using Wi-Fi technologies, medical image segmentation and registration, AI-driven clinical decision support systems and brain computer interfaces. My PhD graduates work as senior researchers and data scientists in academia, industry (Canon Medical and Microsoft) and NHS.
I am also coordinating the Glasgow Women in Computer Science Group, which supports women at all levels in the School, from undergraduate upwards, and organises regular talks and events which are open to everyone.
I value teaching and aspiring a new generation of multi-disciplinary students to pursue a research career in computing science technologies for biomedical applications. I invest in attracting people from a diverse background. My team consists of students across three continents, and it is gender balanced. We are looking forward to welcoming you in our team.
