Mission Priority Areas
I'm enthusiastic about the opportunity to be a part of the Diversity Drives Innovation Center of Doctoral Training, as it aligns perfectly with my overarching goals.
My primary objective is to mentor and guide emerging researchers in the field of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within a collaborative and supportive environment, with a particular focus on advancing cutting-edge AI hardware.
In more detail, my research revolves around harnessing the potential of complex waves to enhance AI efficiency and sustainability, primarily through the development of analog reservoir computing processors. Additionally, I have recently co-founded an AI-focused startup.
As a woman in the AI field, I am deeply committed to championing gender equality in the technology sector and advocating for diversity and inclusivity in both academia and entrepreneurship. These values align seamlessly with the center's mission. Joining this center will provide me with a platform to actively contribute to this mission and inspire the next generation to create innovative and ethically responsible solutions for the betterment of society.
My research is a deep-rooted passion that centres on sustainable computer technology and its potential to bring about transformative changes in our world. Specifically, my primary focus is on advancing the hardware side of AI, with a strong emphasis on making it more efficient and environmentally sustainable. I do this primarily through developing analog reservoir computing processors (ARCPs).
In the future, within my research group, I envision ourselves as trailblazers in computer engineering. Our work will revolve around innovative projects that intertwine various optics, computing, and complexity theory aspects. Our overarching goal will be to drive AI technology forward and create solutions that can impact and benefit society.
One aspect that particularly excites me about the prospect of joining the CDT community is the opportunity for collaboration. I am eager to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. For instance, combining AI with environmental science to address critical global issues is an area that sparks my interest. I firmly believe that tackling complex challenges requires interdisciplinary approaches, and it’s through collaboration that we can unlock groundbreaking discoveries and solutions.
As a supervisor, my approach is characterized by support and dedication to my students’ growth and learning. I derive immense satisfaction from guiding them through intricate projects that empower them to excel both academically and professionally.
Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are not just words to me; they are principles I hold dear. I am wholeheartedly committed to creating an inclusive and equitable research environment. Throughout my career, I have actively supported students from diverse backgrounds, been involved in initiatives to promote diversity in STEM fields, and even initiated a fair-minded AI-based business. I firmly believe that diversity ignites creativity and fosters innovation.
On a personal note, I am a scientist but also an adventurer at heart. My love for travel has exposed me to various cultures, and these diverse experiences enrich my perspective and creativity. The opportunity to be a part of the CDT community genuinely excites me. I look forward to contributing to collaborative efforts that lead to meaningful discoveries, all in pursuit of a better future.
