Mission Priority Areas
My research field is software engineering with a focus on human aspects and AI. I conduct interdisciplinary research at the intersection of software engineering, cognitive psychology, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), accompanied by Big Data Analytics. My vision is to improve software and development quality through the development of a Human-AI collaboration that can be regarded as a joint cognitive system, thereby extending human intelligence. I have also recently started working on sustainability in Software Engineering.
I am interested in supervising interdisciplinary projects, including but not limited to human-AI collaboration, AI Fairness, Software Engineering (SE) for AI, AI for SE, sustainability (e.g., low carbon computing) in SE, Computing Science and SE Education in the era of LLMs/GenAI, SE for scientific software development and maintenance. I am a versatile supervisor. I can be hands-on, helping students scope the research topic, develop technical and critical thinking skills, while also giving them the freedom to conduct research in an area they are passionate about. I co-supervised PhD students at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and the University of Zurich, Switzerland, who now work as software engineers/researchers/academics at various organizations (e.g., Google, Zurich, Switzerland; ABB, Zurich, Switzerland; Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science, Portugal; Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands).
