Mission Priority Areas
I am a postdoctoral researcher in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Glasgow’s James Watt School of Engineering, driven by the passion to build responsible, inclusive, and human-centred AI systems for health and wellbeing. My research lies at the intersection of radar signal processing, multimodal data fusion, and ethical AI, with a focus on developing contactless and equitable monitoring solutions for both underserved and underrepresented populations. I am particularly inspired by real-world challenges in digital health and the opportunity to co-create technologies that are not only intelligent, but also fair and sensitive to the needs of diverse communities.
In this study, we built AI pipelines that integrate physiological, radar, and audio-visual signals for applications ranging from fatigue detection to gender-aware health diagnostics. Our work is deeply interdisciplinary and engages clinicians, engineers, data scientists, and public health professionals. I am excited to collaborate with researchers across quantum sensing, inclusive design, behavioural science, and ethics to explore mission-driven AI systems that enhance accessibility, trust, and social impact.
Within DiveIn CDT, I envision co-supervising projects that explore the social and technical dimensions of AI in health, for instance, fairness-aware models in sensor fusion, community-informed digital diagnostics, and bias mitigation in machine learning pipelines. I am a collaborative mentorship-driven supervisor that prioritises intellectual growth, creativity, and psychological safety. My students have gone on to pursue academic research, industry roles, and advocacy in inclusive technology.
My commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) is fundamental to my practice. I have led gender-focused research projects, mentored students from minoritized backgrounds, and served as a mentor for national leadership schemes, such as WES MentorSET. I bring lived experience as a refugee academic and have actively shaped inclusive practices through my roles in the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Young Academy and the University of Glasgow’s research strategy forums.
Beyond research, I am a mother of two, a science communicator and a firm believer in using AI not just to understand data, but to empower lives. I see DiveIn as a community where values and knowledge meet and I am proud to contribute to shaping its future.
