Personal profile:

I am leading the Knowledge & Data Engineering Systems group in School of Computing Science. The group brings together Data Science and Distributed Computing establishing the innovating field of Distributed & Trustworthy AI. We, as a team, are collaborating with industry to maximize our research impact to real-life problems ranging from intelligent transportation systems to AI-based digital twins. These fields are ‘by design’ interdisciplinary involving research coming from disciplines (social sciences to engineering/STEM) as evidenced from the current EU Horizon grant TRACE (I am the PI).

I would like to supervise projects with fundamental practical applications to the society, generating impact to economy, and cope with real scenarios that reveal the boundaries of AI in practice and in research methods.

I am very closely working with my PGR colleagues in light of contributing research outputs to the community and the industry. My PGR graduates are involved/working as Senior Researchers in Oracle, Repado, BMW, and SAS and as Lecturers in overseas Universities.

My commitment to EDI includes my awareness and acknowledgement of all the aspects of my PGRs and PDRAs especially in celebrating diversity in my team encouraging a culture of openness from my experience as PGR supervisor, PGT advisor and MSc/PGT director.
